ABOUT THE LOWLAND ANOA
Hey! Welcome to my web page! My name is Lauren, and I go to Thomas Jefferson Middle School. In our science class, we are studying the process of evolution, the theory that life forms change over time.
To help us to better understand this unit, in depth, we have been assigned an
endangered animal to research. The animal I have chosen for this project is the
Lowland Anoa, a species of small wild buffalo- type animal. This animal is
endangered, which means it could soon become extinct.
There are five levels of endangerment and they are:
vulnerable, threatened, rare, endangered, and extinct. There are four factors,
known as natural selection, that play a major role in determining the animal's
level of endangerment. Those are: environmental factors, predatory factors,
competition for food, and disease resistence.
In addition to this, we studied the creator of the theory of Natural Selection, Charles Darwin, as well as his accomplishments. Then, we studied more about the evolution of fish, and the ocean divisions. These are explained in my ocean habitat page. Also, we had to design our OWN animal that was fitted for a certain zone in the ocean; it had to be more developed and have certain traits that will enable it to survive in the wild. Pictures of my animal, the Sammaddam fish, are located on my imaginary fish page.
