As you know from having read Dogsong by Gary Paulsen, Russel took his dogsled team on a journey across the frozen Alaskan wilderness.
Each year many people embark on a similar journey when they participate in the Iditarod race. Using "Iditarod" as a keyword in one of the major search engines such as Google, Lycos, or AltaVista, research the history of this race and find the following:

Home State or Province of Each Winner |
Amount of Prize Money |
Then use this information to develop a class database.
What can you say about the participants?
What do you notice about the ages of the winners?
Is there a relationship between the winner's home state or province and the amount of prize money?
Based on the information in this database, what would you suggest to aspiring competitors?
Copy and paste the information on age and home state/province into a spreadsheet. Create a chart showing the top three ages of the winners and the top three home states/provinces.
