Understanding Alaska and Its People

The best way to discover the unique qualities of a place is to talk with the people who live there.  What would you ask someone who lived in Alaska?

To share information through a classroom exchange, students should divide into small groups and set up one e-mail account per group.

Once e-mail accounts are active, connect your classroom with a classroom in Alaska by clicking here.

Fun Things to Do

Take a digital photograph of the world outside your classroom, and ask your e-pals to do the same.  Share the photo through an e-mail attachment.

If you don't have a digital camera, use a regular one to take a picture.  Then scan your photograph and send it to your e-pals as a JPEG file.

If you do not have a digital camera or a scanner, you can always send photographs of your class, school, or community to your e-pals through the U.S. Postal Service.

Ask your e-pals to describe a typical school day.

Ask your e-pals to describe their recreational activities.

Ask your e-pals to describe their community and state.

Keep a journal of what you learn.
